ESPN Ranks Coyotes No. 6 in 'Ultimate Standings'
PHOENIX PLACES FIRST AMONG NHL TEAMS IN MAGAZINE’S RANKINGS

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- ESPN The Magazine announced today that the Phoenix Coyotes have been chosen as the sixth best franchise among all professional sports teams in North America in the magazine’s 10th annual Ultimate Standings which measure how much NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB franchises give back to their fans in exchange for all the time, money and emotion that fans invest in them. The Coyotes also ranked first among all NHL teams and first among all professional sports franchises in Arizona. Last year, the Coyotes ranked 28th overall and 10th among all NHL teams.
“We are thrilled that ESPN The Magazine chose the Coyotes as the sixth best sports franchise in North America and the top franchise in the NHL,” said Coyotes President & Chief Operating Officer Mike Nealy. “Last season was a very exciting and memorable one for our franchise and our fans. We won the Pacific Division title and advanced to the Western Conference Final for the first time in our history. We made great strides as an organization on and off the ice and moving forward, we will continue to work hard to provide our fans with a winning product, great value and first class entertainment.”
The eight major categories which make up the Ultimate Standings include: Bang For The Buck - Wins during the past three years (regular season plus postseason) per revenues directly from fans, adjusted for league schedules; Fan Relations - Openness and consideration toward fans by players, coaches and management; Ownership - Honesty and loyalty to core players and local community; Affordability - Price of tickets, parking and concessions; Stadium Experience - Quality of arena and game-day promotions as well as friendliness of environment; Players - Effort on the field and likability off it; Coaching - Strength of leadership; and Title Track - Championships already won or expected in the lifetime of current fans. The rankings include a fan survey as well as examinations of ticket prices and other performance measures.
The Coyotes complete rankings for all eight categories are listed below:

· 37th: Stadium Experience
· 68th: Title Track
· 100th: Ownership
Last season, the Coyotes posted a record of 42-27-13 and 97 points, securing their first division championship en route to the franchise’s first appearance in the Western Conference Final. It marked the first time in franchise history that the Coyotes had recorded three consecutive seasons with 40-plus wins. In addition, the Coyotes reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the third consecutive year, marking the first time the franchise qualified for the postseason in three or more consecutive seasons since the team clinched a playoff berth in its first four seasons in the Valley (1996-97 to 1999-00).
Across the four major sports in North America, the Oklahoma City Thunder (NBA) ranked No. 1 overall as the best franchise on the ESPN The Magazine list followed by the Green Bay Packers (NFL), San Antonio Spurs (NBA), Indiana Pacers (NBA), Memphis Grizzlies (NBA) and Phoenix Coyotes (NHL). The Thunder were the ranked as the top NBA team, the Packers as the best NFL team, the Coyotes as the best NHL team and the Texas Rangers as the MLB’s top team.
