GLENDALE – Coyotes prospect Connor Murphy will not play again this season after suffering a lower-body injury on Sunday in the Gold Medal Game at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia.

Murphy

Murphy, a defenseman, helped Team USA beat Sweden, 3-1, in the WJC title game.

Before the tournament, Murphy notched six goals and 12 assists in 33 games for the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League.

The Coyotes selected Murphy, who will undergo surgery to repair the injury, with the 20th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
