Coyotes Recall Seven Players from AHL

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled forwards Chris Brown, Chris Conner, Rob Klinkhammer, Brendan Shinnimin and Jordan Szwarz as well as defensemen Brandon Gormley and Chris Summers from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Brown has recorded 12-9-21 and 61 PIM in 37 games with Portland this season. The 21-year-old native of Flower Mound, Texas was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the second round (36th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The 5-foot-8, 180-pound Conner has posted 7-16-23 in 32 games with Portland this season to rank fourth on the team in scoring. The 29-year-old native of Westland, Mich., has played in 147 NHL games in his career with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings recording 17-26-43. Connor was signed as a free agent by the Coyotes on July 2, 2012.

The 6-foot-3, 213-pound Klinkhammer ranks second on the Pirates in scoring with 9-23-32. The 26-year-old native of Lethbridge, Alberta has played in 16 NHL games in his career with the Chicago Blackhawks. Klinkhammer was signed as a free agent by the Coyotes on July 7, 2012.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Shinnimin has posted 8-12-20 in 38 games with Portland this season. The 22-year-old native of Winnipeg, Manitoba was signed as a free agent by the Coyotes on Mar. 2, 2012.

The 5-foot-11, 196-pound Szwarz has recorded 6-14-20 in 32 games with the Pirates this season. The 21-year-old native of Burlington, Ontario was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the fourth round (97th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6-foot-2, 196-pound Gormley has posted 3-7-10 in 34 games with Portland this season. The 20-year-old native of Murray River, Prince Edward Island was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (13th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Summers has recorded 1-7-8 and 37 PIM in 34 games with the Pirates this season. The 24-year-old native of Ann Arbor, Mich., has played in 23 NHL games in his career with the Coyotes posting 0-3-3 and 15 PIM. Summers was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
