The Boedker Blog: Four-Game Road Trip Will be Challenging
ST. LOUIS – Our team is in St. Louis today to start an important four-game road trip. I think it’ll be an exciting trip and an important one as the playoff race really starts to heat up. We, as a group, have to step up, come together and just make sure that we do the right things and that we get the rest we need. This is do-or-die time now and we’ve got to make a run for it.
As of this morning, we’re in sixth place in the conference standings but the standings change every day so I try not to pay too much mention attention to them right now. We know where we are in the pack of teams, but we can’t focus on that. We’ve just got to focus on winning hockey games and I think we’re doing a great job of that, like Tuesday night against the Kings.
This trip will be a good challenge for us. St. Louis beat us pretty badly in our building last week so we will be looking for revenge at their rink. Columbus is playing very well now so we have to be ready for them, and then we go to LA for two back-to-back games vs. the Kings. They’re a tough team to play against, but so are we, so I think if we play the way we can we’ll have a good chance in all four games we’ll play on this trip.
Tuesday night’s game was a fun game for me. Afterward, my teammates gave me our brand new Player of the Game belt. It’s a great honor to be recognized by your teammates for the way you play in a game and it’s pretty cool that I was the one who got to carry the new belt around the locker room for the first time.
After the game a reporter asked me if my parents – who were visiting me from Denmark – were still in town to see me score two goals vs. the Kings. Unfortunately they were not. They went back home on Monday, but that’s OK. They got to see the highlights.
I had a great time with them while they were here in Arizona. They stayed with me for 10 days, and it was really good to see them and just share some laughs and have a good time. It’s nice for them to come here and to get away from the snow back home. They enjoy Arizona very much. I look forward to seeing them again soon.
I saw a good movie the last time we were on the road. It’s called “Zero Dark Thirty.” If you haven’t seen it, I recommend you do. It was a little bit long but it’s very interesting and I really liked it. I suppose I'll watch some more movies on this long trip. If I see something else that’s good I’ll let you know.
Well, that’s all for now. Thanks for checking out my blog. I look forward to seeing our fans at our next home game.
