Coyotes Recall C. Johnson from AHL

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled goaltender Chad Johnson from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).


The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Johnson made two starts for the Coyotes this season posting a 1-0-1 record with a 0.98 goals against average (GAA) and .952 save percentage (SV %). He earned his first career NHL shutout on Jan. 28 vs. Nashville when he made 21 saves.

Johnson has appeared in 32 games with the Pirates this season posting a 16-13-1 record with a 2.87 GAA and .909 SV %.

In 2011-12, the 26-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta notched a 22-18-6 record with a 2.49 GAA and .919 SV% in 49 games with the Connecticut Whale (AHL). Johnson was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round (125th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft. is the official Web site of the Arizona Coyotes.
