Coyotes Sign Halpern to One-Year, Two-Way Contract

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Jeff Halpern to a one-year, two-way contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Last season, the 6-foot, 190-pound Halpern recorded 1-2-3 and 10 penalty minutes (PIM) in 46 games with the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens.
In parts of 13 NHL seasons with the Washington Capitals, Dallas Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings, Canadiens and Rangers, the 37-year-old forward has played in 907 regular season games, recording 147-214-361 and 617 PIM. He has also appeared in 39 Stanley Cup playoff games, totaling 7-7-14 and 31 PIM. The Washington D.C. native served as the Capitals' captain during the 2005-06 season.
Halpern was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Washington on March 29, 1999.
