2010: Won a bronze medal at both the IIHF World Junior Championship in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan and IIHF World Championship in Germany…Registered 2-3-5 with 12 PIM and a plus-5 rating in six games at the WJC…Tied for the team lead in points by defensemen…Ranked tied for sixth in scoring among all defensemen in the tournament…Selected as one of Sweden’s top three players for the tournament by opposing coaches…Collected 1-2-3 and a plus-3 rating in nine games in the IIHF World Championship…Recorded 20:02 TOI in the bronze medal game vs. Germany…

2009: Represented Team Sweden at the IIHF U-18 World Championship in Minnesota, collecting 2-6-8 in six games and helping Sweden to a fifth place finish.

FUN FACT: Ekman-Larsson's maternal grandfather, Kenneth Ekman, played for Sweden at the 1972 Winter Olympics.

HE SAID IT:

On playing at the Olympics for the first time:

"It’s going to be a lot of fun to go over there and play, and meet some guys that I never met before or played with, so I’m excited for that. It’s going to be fun."

Do you like the bigger ice surface?

"Not anymore. I played almost my whole life on the bigger ice but I haven’t been doing that in a long time so I’m excited to go over there and get some room, hopefully."

On possibly being paired with high-scoring defenseman Erik Karlsson:

"I heard a couple rumors that I’m playing with Erik Karlsson. If that’s the case it will be fun to play with him... I know Erik. He’s a great guy and obviously a great hockey player. I don’t know for sure if I’m going to play with him or someone else but if we’re going to play together I guess I have to take care of the defense. I played with him at my first world championship but just on power play. That was kind of fun. He’s such a good player. I’m looking forward to that if I get the chance to play with him."
