Position: Center
Hometown: St. Louis, MO, USA
Round: 2 (43rd overall)
2013-14 team: Kitchener (OHL)

The Skinny:

A tall, two-way center, MacInnis improved 13 spots to No. 20 on Central Scouting’s final ranking of North American skaters.

The Stats:

• MacInnis finished among the top 10 rookie scorers in the Ontario Hockey League during the 2013-14 season with 37 points (16 goals, 21 assists) in 54 games for Kitchener.

• MacInnis notched five points (two goals, three assists) in six games for the U.S. at the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, including a goal and assist in a 4-3 win over Quebec in the bronze medal game. He was also a member of the U.S Under-17 team that finished first in the 2012 Four Nations Tournament.

The Quotes:

"It's an honor to be picked by Arizona... I've been looking forward to being drafted ever since I was a kid. It's every kid's dream to be here." – Ryan MacInnis

"My dad (Al MacInnis) taught me everything. He taught me how to skate, how to shoot. He was a great coach. He still is. He'll call me after every game and we'll talk about the good things and the bad things " – Ryan MacInnis

"We really feel that Ryan has a chance to fill out. He's 20, 30, 40, 50 pounds, maybe, from where he's going to end up. He got into the OHL this year on a weak team, so his numbers were maybe not what people expected, but we think that his numbers can come up. We saw him as an underage playing with the (USA) U-18 team so we think that his numbers will improve And, of course, he's got a great pedigree. His hockey smarts and instincts are all there and his effort is is always there." – Coyotes Director of Amateur Scouting Tim Bernhardt

The Fun Facts:

• MacInnis is the son of Hockey Hall of Fame defenseman Al MacInnis, a Stanley Cup champion and seven-time All-Star who spent 23 seasons in the NHL with St. Louis and Calgary. Al was a member of the Kitchener Rangers (1980-83) prior to his NHL career.

• MacInnis was asked if his shot measures up to his father’s famous cannon. Al won the Hardest Shot a record seven times at the NHL All-Star Skills Competition: “No, not even close. We'll go outside a lot whenever I'm home in St. Louis and we'll shoot a lot. He'll just feed me one timers and he'll teach me about the art of shooting."
