W R DUTTON
W R “Bill” Dutton spent the majority of his career in the Oil and Gas drilling, exploration and production industry, most recently with a Southeast Saskatchewan company called Upton Resources Ltd which he started in 1987 as a drilling partnership.
He is the holder of the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal and is the member of the Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Hall of Fame.
Born and raised in Virden Manitoba, his love for hockey began at the age of 5, a love that has spanned over 70 years. He has coached, scouted, managed, scraped the ice, ran the rink, drove the bus and sharpened the skates, and whatever it took to make it happen.
Hockey runs deep in his family, his Uncle Merv “Red” Dutton played professionally with the Calgary Tigers, The Montreal Maroons and the New York American’s. Red later went on to be the Coach, manager and owner of the Americans, and was the President of the NHL from 1942-45 when the Americans suspended operations for WWII. Red was the only NHL President who was a player, manager, coach and owner, as well as a trustee of the Stanley Cup.
