GLENDALE -- The Philadelphia Flyers will make a rare appearance in the Valley tonight when they play the Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena. The puck drops at 6 p.m. (Arizona time).

Ilya Bryzgalov will be in goal for the Coyotes (12-9-1), who have earned three points in their past two games.

Center Matthew Lombardi, who missed the past three games because of a lower-body injury, is expected to return to the lineup. Defenseman Ed Jovanovski, who also is coping with a lower-body injury, likely will not return.

The Coyotes have played disciplined hockey lately and have not spent a lot of time in the penalty box. That will be key vs. Philadelphia, which has the most effective power-play unit in the NHL.

"They've got a very good team," Coyotes Head Coach Dave Tippett said. "They've got some big skill guys that if you put them on the power play they'll hurt you, so we have to continue to try to play that real disciplined game and try to be hard on loose pucks and make sure we try to capitalize on a few more opportunities."

Coyotes forward Scottie Upshall is looking forward to the game because it will be his first vs. the Flyers since they traded him and a second-round draft pick in 2011 to Phoenix last season for Daniel Carcillo.

"There's an opportunity to be in the spotlight and to have a chance to show a team that had you on their lineup only five or six five months ago, that maybe it was a bad decision," Upshall said.

Tippett is expecting Upshall and Carcillo to play with added intensity.

"I'm sure when players get traded for each other they certainly want to show the other team that they're missing out on something," Tippett said. "I'm sure both players will have that mindset."

The Flyers (12-6-1) played at the San Jose Sharks on Friday night and lost 6-3. It was just their second defeat in the past nine games. 

As expected, defenseman Chris Pronger has played well for the Flyers after signing as a free agent over the summer. Pronger has tallied 18 points and leads the league in ice time at nearly 27 minutes per game.

Asked to comment on Pronger, Tippett said: "I remember a line by Craig MacTavish years ago when they (the Edmonton Oilers) went to the Stanley Cup (Finals). Somebody asked him who his second best defenseman was. He said 'Whoever is with Pronger.' That's just the kind of player he is... He's just one of those guys who stabilizes your back end, plays big minutes and is just an excellent player... He's a player that just elevates everybody else."

Philadelphia last played in Glendale on March 12, 2007.
