GLENDALE -- Dustin Brown and Kyle Clifford scored second-period goals to provide more than enough offense for Los Angeles goalie Jonathan Quick, who stopped all 28 shots by the Coyotes on Thursday night at Jobing.com Arena.

LA won, 2-0, to extend its winning streak over Phoenix to four games.

The Kings (4-1-1) had 22 shots on goal, and Phoenix goalie Mike Smith had to make several spectacular saves to keep his team close. However, close wasn't good enough as the Coyotes (2-3-1) ended a disappointing  homestand.

After being dominated by Chicago on Tuesday, the Coyotes came out with a better first-period effort but had only a few scoring chances among their 11 shots. The Kings began to tilt the ice at the end of the period, and when Daymond Langkow took a hooking penalty in the waning seconds, the Kings cashed in 0:56 after intermission.

Mike Richards' pretty pass out of the corner found Brown all alone at the lip of the crease. Smith stopped Brown's first try but Brown got another whack and pushed the puck between the goaltender's pads for a power-play goal. It was the kings' sixth power-play goal in 21 chances this season.

Los Angeles failed to convert on two more power-play chances in the period, but the Kings' fourth line capitalized on a Phoenix mistake to make it 2-0 at 15:23 (see KEY MOMENT below) of the second period.

Quick was required to make only a few difficult saves. Two came in the first period when he stopped Coyotes defenseman Rostislav Klesla in close, and then deflected Ray Whitney's 20-foot blast from the slot into the left corner.

Later, Coyotes forward Raffi Torres, open in the slot, shot wide on a Phoenix power play five minutes into the final period, and late in the period with Richards off for tripping, the Coyotes pulled Smith for an extra attacker, but could not solve Quick, who posted his 100th win.

"The bottom line is we have to find ways to win," Coyotes Head Coach Dave Tippett said. "We need to be more determined and I would like to see us execute better with the puck."

EDITOR'S NOTE: Dave Vest of phoenixcoyotes.com compiled this recap.

Trailing 1-0, Coyotes forwards Petteri Nokelainen and Taylor Pyatt collided behind the Los Angeles net, giving the Kings a four-on-two break the other way. Enforcer Kevin Westgarth fed Kyle Clifford for a wrist shot that beat Coyotes goalie Mike Smith to the short side.

• The Coyotes' next game is Sunday vs. Anaheim at Honda Center. The puck drops at 5 p.m. (Arizona time). The game can be seen on Fox Sports Arizona and can be heard on KFNN 1510 (AM).

"It was kind of a blah game, I thought. We did have some chances to score but (Jonathan) Quick came up with some big saves. We did some good things but it's an ongoing process and we have to keep the pedal on the floor and keep improving every game." "I don't think we are discouraged, but we are disappointed. We know this was big because we wanted to get above .500... We are going in the right direction. We just have to make sure we clean up our own zone." "We've been playing some good hockey the last few games. That comes from a little bit of team chemistry building we've done over the big three-week road trip, and the guys are feeling good. Everybody is loose. Everybody is playing well."
