Kings at Coyotes (Preseason)
Los Angeles Kings vs. Phoenix Coyotes
By Dave Vest
GLENDALE –
The Coyotes resume their preseason schedule tonight with a pair of split-squad games against the Los Angeles Kings. The games will be played simultaneously at Jobing.com Arena and the Staples Center beginning at 7 p.m.

Head Coach Dave Tippett and his staff will use the games to evaluate talent and to help shape the roster for the 2010-11 regular season, which begins Oct. 9 in Prague.

The competition for jobs is heating up. At center, for instance, Kyle Turris took a nice step toward securing the fourth slot on the depth chart in Tuesday’s preseason opener by notching a goal and an assist. Andrew Ebbett also scored a goal. And while he didn't score a goal, tryout Kyle Wellwood turned heads in that game with his playmaking skills.

Ilya Bryzgalov, the runner-up for the 2009-10 Vezina Trophy, will start in net at the Glendale game. Captain Shane Doan and defenseman Keith Yandle also will play on home ice.

► Phoenix’s roster for tonight’s HOME game vs. LA (subject to change):

FORWARDS: Shane Doan, Andrew Ebbett, Vernon Fiddler, Martin Hanzal, Ryan Hollweg, Alexandre Picard, Petr Prucha, Taylor Pyatt, Blair Riley, Viktor Tikhonov, Radim Vrbata, Kyle Wellwood.

DEFENSEMEN: Adrian Aucoin, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Michael Stone, Chris Summers, Keith Yandle, Nolan Yonkman.
