GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Markus Naslund made a successful return to the Vancouver Canucks lineup.

Three nights after sitting out his first game of the season with a sore groin, Naslund was one of seven players to score as the Canucks beat the Phoenix Coyotes 7-4 Tuesday night.

``It wasn't the prettiest of games but nevertheless we will take the two points,'' Naslund said.

Alex Auld made 42 saves for the Canucks - 21 in the second period.

``I just want to try and make every save and take care of what you can,'' Auld said. ``It's obviously nice to get the offensive support that I had tonight. It makes it that much easier.''

Naslund scored in his return to the Vancouver lineup, and Daniel Sedin, Josh Green, Tyler Bouck, Mattias Ohlund and Todd Bertuzzi added goals for the Canucks, who won their second in a row after dropping three straight.

Shane Doan had a goal and an assist, and Dave Scatchard, Mike Comrie and Mike Ricci also scored for the Coyotes, who have lost two straight and four of six despite recording a season-high 46 shots.

``We showed signs at getting back into the game but every time we would show signs they would put an end to it and get another goal and put it out of reach,'' Coyotes forward Geoff Sanderson said.

The Coyotes rallied from a three-goal deficit to pull within 4-3 on Comrie's goal at 16:23 of the second period.

But Ohlund beat Curtis Joseph with a blast from the top of the left circle at 18:29 of the period. Then Naslund, who missed Vancouver's game against Colorado on Saturday with a sore groin, made it 6-3 when he scored against backup Brian Boucher on a short backhand from the front of the crease with 15:08 left.

``A win is a win,'' Auld said. ``I guess that is the most important thing. We kind of let them back in it there and we have to learn from that.''

Joseph, making his fourth start in six days, allowed five goals on 19 shots before being replaced by Boucher.

Vancouver jumped in front early on goals by Daniel Sedin and Green 47 seconds apart midway through the period. Scatchard made it 2-1 with 39 seconds left in the period when he beat Auld on a long rebound.

Henrik Sedin made it 3-1 at 5:57 of the third when he won a faceoff to the left of the goal, pushed the puck forward, then chipped it off defenseman Denis Gauthier and past Joseph.

``We got the momentum back, then they got one deflected in off our guy and when that happens it's tough,'' Doan said. ``We can't be in any 7-4 games. When we get four goals we have to make sure we win those games.''

Bouck's first goal since March 6, 2004, at 8:02 of the period, extended Vancouver's lead to 4-1. Phoenix rallied, with Doan slipping a bouncing puck under Auld at 14:24 - 1:59 before Comrie scored to pull the Coyotes within a goal.

Ricci scored a power-play goal, Phoenix's second in nine opportunities, with 11:18 left to make it 6-4.

``We have to be better than we were today,'' Canucks coach Marc Crawford said. ``Our goalie won the game for us in the second period. We took too many dumb penalties. We keep doing that. We keep giving teams a chance to get back in games. We're taxing a penalty-killing unit that is already depleted.''

Bertuzzi added an empty-netter with 1:27 remaining to seal the victory.

``Our kids, they played hard again and we didn't get a win,'' Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky said. ``All in all we created a lot of scoring chances. We just got behind and could never catch up but it wasn't from a lack of effort.''

Notes: Vancouver is 20-4-3 when a defenseman scores a goal. ... Phoenix's previous season high for shots was 40 at Buffalo on Jan. 12. The franchise record is 54, achieved twice, the last time on Feb. 10, 1985, at Vancouver when the team still was located in Winnipeg. ... Crawford won his 399th career game. ... Gauthier injured his shoulder during his third-period fight against Bouck and didn't return. ... Phoenix LW Ladislav Nagy, bothered by a sore knee the past week, didn't dress for just the third time this season.
