DENVER -- Ilya Bryzgalov made 29 saves, Eric Belanger scored twice and the Coyotes beat the Colorado Avalanche, 5-2, on Wednesday night at the Pepsi Center in their final game before the NHL All-Star break.

Defenseman Keith Yandle, who will represent the Coyotes in Sunday's All-Star Game, had a goal and an assist for Phoenix (25-17-9), which won its fifth consecutive road game. It's the longest current road winning streak in the NHL and the second time this season they've won at least four straight games away from home. Phoenix has earned 34 of its 59 points as the visitors.

Scottie Upshall and Kyle Turris also scored goals, and Lee Stempniak had two assists.

"We needed a response after our game last night (vs. Edmonton)," Coyotes Head Coach Dave Tippett said. "We didn't play very well. We were looking for a strong response from our team... We tried to do some things we didn't do last night and it worked in our favor."

Ryan Stoa and Matt Duchene scored for Colorado (25-19-6). Craig Anderson, who relieved Peter Budaj after Phoenix's second goal, made 25 saves.

The Coyotes fell behind 1-0 when Stoa scored on Colorado's first and only shot of the first period at 4:20. After Upshall netted his team-leading 15th goal at 6:12 on a power play, Yandle made the score 2-1 by taking a drop pass from Martin Hanzal and beating Budaj with a shot to the top left corner of the goal.

Belanger gave Phoenix a 3-1 lead 1:09 into the second period when he stuffed the puck past Anderson.

Colorado gained momentum in the second period and put 19 shots on Bryzgalov, who stopped them all.

Goals by Turris and Duchene in the third period made the score 4-2, and Belanger capped the scoring with an empty-netter at 19:08.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Dave Vest of compiled this recap.

Trailing 3-1 in the second period, the Avalanche scored what they thought was a goal, but it was disallowed because forward Cody McLeod interfered with Coyotes goalie Ilya Bryzgalov.

• Phoenix upped its record to 8-2-1 vs. teams from the Northwest Division: Calgary, Colorado, Edmonton, Minnesota and Vancouver.

• Defenseman Keith Yandle notched an assist in the first period (and then later a goal) to extend his point streak to nine games - the longest current point streak in the NHL. The assist was the 100th assist of his NHL career. Yandle has notched two goals and 12 assists during his streak.

• Forward Lee Stempniak had two assists and extended his point streak to seven games. Stempniak has notched five goals and six assists in that span.

• Phoenix has scored a power-play goal in each of its last five games - 5 for 21.

• The Coyotes scratched Mikkel Boedker, Michal Rozsival (lower-body injury) and Chris Summers.

• The Coyotes' next game is Tuesday vs. San Jose at the HP Pavilion. The puck drops at 8 p.m. (Arizona time). The game can be seen on Versus and can be heard on XTRA Sports 910 (AM).
"We weren't very happy about the outcome (vs. Edmonton on Tuesday).
The best thing about this sport is you can redeem yourself pretty quick... You want to feel good about yourself, so it was a big win for us."
"We're a no-frills team, play four lines and try to outwork the other team. It's probably more conducive on the road where you're happy to have a tight-game mentality. We've embraced it." "It's a good time for a break. When we get back we know what we have to do. We seem to be rattled some times, lot of guys with injuries. The break will heal up a few guys."
