PHILADELPHIA -- Captain Shane Doan scored an overtime power-play goal to lift the streaking Coyotes to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday night. The victory was Phoenix's eighth in a row - a season-high.

Ilya Bryzgalov made 37 saves for Phoenix (33-19-9) to win his career-high eighth consecutive game in his career-high 19th straight start.

Doan slapped a shot past Flyers rookie goalie Sergei Bobrovsky at 2:41 of an overtime (see KEY MOMENT below) that was forced after Philadelphia's Claude Giroux tied the score with 1:13 left in regulation.

Doan played in his 1,098th game with the Winnipeg/Phoenix franchise, tying him with Teppo Numminen for first place on the club's all-time list. He'll set the franchise mark on Wednesday night at Tampa Bay.

Taylor Pyatt put Phoenix up 2-1 with 9:30 left in the third, with a shot that somehow eluded Bobrovsky. Pyatt took the puck down the left side and fired from just in front of the blue line. Bobrovsky appeared to have the puck lined up, but it took a bad hop off his skate and flipped over his leg and into the net.

At 2:44 of the third, Coyotes center Eric Belanger beat Bobrovsky in front of the net, taking a perfect pass from Mikkel Boedker, who had put a move on Kimmo Timonen down the right side. Belanger scored his second goal in three games to tie the score 1-1.

"Bryzgalov gave us some great big saves and we had a power play in the overtime," Coyotes Head Coach Dave Tippett said. "It's funny how this works, as we had some games like this earlier in the year that we were the one giving up the power play and losing in overtime. Now, in the second half of the season, we are finding a way to win games like these.”

Ville Leino opened the scoring with a first-period goal for the Flyers (39-15-6), who lost for only the second time when leading after two periods. He skated across the center of the ice as Matt Carle fired from the top of the left faceoff circle. Reaching across his body with his stick, he deflected the puck off Sami Lepisto's skate and by Coyotes goalie Ilya Bryzgalov.

Giroux went top shelf late in the third to force the overtime, roofing his own rebound in front of Bryzgalov.

Coyotes captain Shane Doan was not pleased with himself because he was on the ice when Philadelphia's Claude Giroux scored to make the score 2-2 late in the third period. But with Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen in the box for hooking, Doan, stationed near the left dot, blasted home Radim Vrbata's pass from the right circle for his 14th goal of the season.

“It was a heck of a shot," Coyotes Head Coach Dave Tippett said. "On the tying goal in the last minute, I think he felt like he should have got the puck out on the wall and he didn’t get it out. He was hungry to redeem himself and fortunately he did.”

Whitney
• Winger Ray Whitney, who ranks second on the team with 45 points, did not play because of a lower-body injury he suffered in Saturday's game vs. Nashville. He is day-to-day. Meanwhile, defenseman Adrian Aucoin missed his third consecutive game because of a lower-body injury.

• Defenseman Nolan Yonkman endeared himself to teammates by swapping punches during a slugfest with accomplished fighter Jody Shelley in the second period.

• After going 14 consecutive games without scoring a goal, Shane Doan has scored a goal in each of the past three games.

• The Coyotes have won six consecutive games by one goal. Five of those six games have featured a 3-2 final score.

• Forward Lauri Korpikoski played in his 200th NHL game.

• The Coyotes scratched David Schlemko, Kyle Turris and Ray Whitney.

• The Coyotes' next game is Wednesday vs. Tampa Bay at the St. Pete Times Forum. The puck drops at 5:30 p.m. (Arizona time). The game can be seen on Fox Sports Arizona Plus and can be heard on XTRA Sports 910 (AM).

"Every point is so important and every game is so close. It’s draining a little bit emotionally and physically with us battling hard... I think the last eight to nine games I’ve played well. I had a good game against Washington too but I don’t know, maybe this was one of the best." "It was disappointing they way we gave up the one (goal) late. We take pride in shutting teams down and to give them that one hurt. To get that extra point was huge for us...They outplayed us and we're counting on (Bryzgalov) a little too much right now, but  we still find ways to win." "(Bryzgalov) is a good goalie. I think he has been great for them the whole season... Any time you play a team like that it is always fun. It’s a pretty good test, and they are one of the best teams in the west right now, so obviously that is why it was a good game tonight."
