NASHVILLE –
Keith Yandle scored a goal with 1:45 left in the third period to give the Coyotes a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday night.

Phoenix (15-9-3) won its second road game in two nights to move into first place in the Pacific Division standings.

Ray Whitney and Taylor Pyatt also scored goals for the Coyotes, who got 30 saves from backup goalie Jason LaBarbera in his first start since Nov. 21.

Jack Hillen and Shea Weber scored goals for Nashville (12-11-4).

With the teams skating four-on-four, Coyotes captain Shane Doan fired a pass from the right circle to Yandle skating through the slot. Yandle corralled the puck and put it past Predators goalie Pekka Rinne for his fourth goal of the season.

Nashville tied the score 2-2 at 12:53 of the third on Weber's goal near the end of lengthy five-on-three power play. Ryan Suter slid the puck to Weber just inside the left point. Weber's one-timer was deflected by Coyotes center Boyd Gordon, who had moved out to try to block the Nashville captain's shot. The puck changed direction and beat LaBarbera over his right shoulder.

Tied 1-1, Whitney, alone in the low slot, parlayed a pass from Radim Vrbata into a one-timer past Rinne at 1:40 of the third period.

Whitney's goal came just seconds after LaBarbera made back-to-back saves on Nashville chances to keep the game tied at 1 (see KEY MOMENT below).

Pyatt gave Phoenix a 1-0 lead just nine seconds after the opening faceoff when he got the rebound of Lauri Korpikoski's long shot from the right side and put the puck past Rinne.

Hillen tied the score with just 10.8 seconds left in the first period. Video officials reviewed the goal - which the Coyotes believed Mike Fischer had kicked in - and it was allowed.

"Our group stayed engaged because of the frustration," Coyotes Head Coach Dave Tippett said. "We feel like both (Nashville) goals were a break for them – the penalty and the one at the end of the first period. So our guys hung in there. We came with the goal that we were going to get two points tonight. Our captain, Shane Doan, made a great play to assistant captain Keith Yandle and got us the win."

LaBarbera
With the score tied 1-1 early in the third period, Coyotes goalie Jason LaBarbera made an eye-popping, acrobatic blocker save to stop a shot by Nashville's David Legwand from in close immediately after he stopped a slap shot by Patric Hornqvist from the right wing.

Moments later, Ray Whitney scored for Phoenix to help the Coyotes regain momentum.

"It was a scramble play," LaBarbera said. "I don’t know who shot the original shot. It was one of those tough saves off the pads that kind of squirt out to the slot. I had to pull out my inner Tim Thomas and dive across the net. But it was a big save and we went right down and scored. When you can get the guys fired up that way and we go down and score, it makes you feel pretty good."

• Defenseman Keith Yandle, who played in his 200th consecutive game on Tuesday, has scored a goal in each of the past two games.

• Goalie Jason LaBarbera has started five games this season. Three of his starts have been vs. Nashville. He has posted a 2-1-0 record in those games and stopped 81 of 87 shots (.931 save percentage). Both of his victories this season have come at Bridgestone Arena.

• Forward Taylor Pyatt scored a goal just nine seconds into the first period. The Coyotes/Jets franchise record for fastest goal scored in a game is five seconds set by Doug Smail vs. St. Louis on Dec. 20, 1981.

• What follows is the official NHL explanation regarding the review of Nashville's first goal: “At 19:49 of the first period in the Coyotes/Predators game, video review upheld the referee's call on the ice that Nashville defenseman Jack Hillen's shot deflected off Phoenix goaltender Jason LaBarbera and then deflected off Phoenix defenseman Keith Yandle and into the net. Good Goal Nashville.”

• Before the game, the Coyotes assigned forward Patrick O'Sullivan to the team's affiliate in the American Hockey League. Click here to read more.

• The Coyotes scratched Paul Bissonnette and Cal O'Reilly.

• The Coyotes' next game is Thursday vs. Detroit at Joe Louis Arena. The puck drops at 5:30 p.m. (Arizona time). The game can be seen on Fox Sports Arizona and can be heard on Money Radio 1510 (AM).

"Whenever I’m out there with (Shane Doan) we always seem to find each other. He’s a guy who’s always looking for other players, and four-on-four with so much ice, I just tried to find a lane for him to get it to me and he made a great play." "It was a good, disciplined game for us. We were able to use all four lines and able to get off to a good start with the first goal. Everyone contributed. It was a solid effort all around." "I think we gave them a little too much time and space out there in the four-on-four and they made a great play to win the game. We have to get back on track. We turned too many pucks over. We gave them too many chances."
