ANAHEIM --
The formula for beating the Anaheim Ducks was clear earlier in the season -- shut down their top line and expose their lack of depth and shaky goaltending.

The Coyotes on Thursday night learned first-hand that the aforementioned formula is no longer the case.

Defenseman Francois Beauchemin scored twice, and Anaheim's third and fourth lines combined for two goals and six assists in a 6-2 victory over Phoenix at the Honda Center.

Jonas Hiller improved to 4-0-1 in his last five appearances for the bottom-feeding Ducks, who are 6-0-1 in their past seven games and have allowed just 13 goals in that span.

Kyle Chipchura and Daymond Langkow scored goals for the Coyotes (21-19-7).

"We worked hard," Langkow said. "I thought we had a good start to the game. We fell behind after the first but I don’t know, it just seemed like every chance they got they capitalized. We made some mistakes and you know that happens. We just need to be better all the way around."

Phoenix, which had been one of the League's better road teams before the calendar flipped to 2012, extended its road losing streak to six games (0-3-3), its longest such skid since 2009.

Anaheim (16-22-7) scored three goals after Phoenix tied the score, 2-2, midway through the second period.

Ducks Head Coach Bruce Boudreau, after his team put one shot on goal in the first 13 minutes of the second period, called a timeout and watched them score on their second shot of the period.

Beauchemin got open in the slot and roofed a great pass by Andrew Cogliano for a 3-2 lead at 14:51.

Hiller later made a glove save on a shot by Taylor Pyatt with 1:23 to go in the period, and the Ducks went the other way with their third line as Blake finished a tic-tac-toe play with Cogliano and Nick Bonino (see KEY MOMENT below).

"I thought there were some good things in the game for us," Coyotes Head Coach Dave Tippett said. "You probably don’t believe that in a 6-2 score (but) we were doing some things fairly well I thought. They got some timely goals to break the game open."

Beauchemin gave the Ducks a 2-1 lead when he fired a slap shot from the left side on Lubomir Visnovsky's rebound.

Visnovsky was the victim on Phoenix's second goal as he fell down when Ray Whitney cut around him in the right circle and fed Langkow in the slot for an easy snap shot past Hiller.

The Coyotes, who took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Chipchura at 8:33 of the first period, went 0 for 4 on the power play and gave up a short-handed, breakaway goal to Corey Perry with 3:37 left in the game.

"That's something we’ve been working on - our power play and our penalty kill," Langkow said. "it can win you games. It’s not like we’re not trying. We’ve just got to bear down a little bit more and work a little bit harder on the special teams."

EDITOR'S NOTE: Dave Vest of phoenixcoyotes.com edited this story and compiled this recap.

Leading 3-2, Ducks left wing Jason Blake deflated the Coyotes by scoring a goal from the top of the crease with 1:06 left in the second period. The goal was Blake's fourth in the past three games, and it capped a nifty passing exchange between he and his linemates.

Chipchura
• Center Kyle Chipchura ended a 74-game goal-scoring drought when he scored Phoenix's first goal at 8:33 of the first period. It was Chipchura's first goal as a member of the Coyotes and his first NHL goal since April 11, 2010 when he played for Anaheim.

• The Coyotes dropped to 18-3-4 in games in which they've scored the first goal.

• Forward Radim Vrbata failed to notch at least one point for the first time in six games.

• The Coyotes gave up a season-high six goals in a game for the first time since giving up six at San Jose in the season opener on Oct. 8.

• The Coyotes played minus centers Martin Hanzal (upper-body injury) and defenseman David Schlemko (lower-body injury). Both players are on the injured reserve list. They also played without defenseman Adrian Aucoin (lower-body injury) who suffered a lower-body injury on Jan. 13 at Columbus.

• The Coyotes scratched Adrian Aucoin and Paul Bissonnette.

• The Coyotes' next game is Thursday vs. the Detroit Red Wings at Jobing.com Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m. (Arizona time). The game can be seen of Fox Sports Arizona Plus and can be heard on XTRA Sports 910 (AM).

"We made some critical mistakes at  wrong times and they capitalized on those chances, and they were  able to push the game along." "We came out with a lot of jump. We just let off a little bit... At the end of the day, we have to put this one behind us quick." "It all starts with our play in the defensive zone. We are limiting the other team’s chances and shots against. By doing that, we’re getting more puck possessions and creating stuff offensively."
